Job description

Job Title: Director, Healthcare Policy

Location: Headquarters DC

Position Overview:

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Director of Healthcare Policy. The Director of Healthcare Policy serves as a key advisor, issue expert, and lobbyist for the NAM and its members on a range of issues, including biopharmaceutical innovation, ERISA rules impacting employer-sponsored health coverage and retirement benefits, healthcare affordability, drug pricing, PBM reform, 340B reform, FDA modernization, compounding, healthcare supply chain resiliency, and more.

  • Analyze policy developments, synthesize information, and formulate core policy positions that reflect the values and priorities of the manufacturing community, including drafting high-quality written work products such as regulatory comment letters, congressional testimony, and issue advocacy reports.
  • Develop and execute legislative and regulatory advocacy strategies in partnership with the VP of Domestic Policy to advance manufacturers’ priorities before Congress and the Administration, serving as a registered lobbyist for designated policy areas.
  • Monitor and maintain a current understanding of rapidly evolving legislative, regulatory, and administrative initiatives to deliver accurate, timely information and assistance to member companies.
  • Communicate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively across a variety of internal and external audiences through written work products and oral presentations, including public speaking engagements.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including NAM member companies, elected officials, executive agencies, and external coalitions, to identify policy priorities and achieve advocacy outcomes that support the growth of manufacturing in America.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with membership, government relations, communications, and legal teams to align policy development and advocacy with organizational goals, ensuring the NAM is responsive to manufacturers’ needs and demonstrating value to membership.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of related Executive Branch, Capitol Hill, corporate, or trade association experience.
  • Exceptional understanding of healthcare policy, including with respect to biopharmaceutical innovation and ERISA benefits.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to draft regulatory comment letters and congressional testimony.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-quality, and goal-driven environment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct reports.

Salary Range: $109,000 - $155,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
