Summary
This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position.
This is a Temporary Promotion to a WS-5801-12 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1293000 and is part of the MO Combined Support Maintenance Shop.

Duties
Help
  • Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
  • Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.
  • Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources.
  • Participates with the supervisor in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explained work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
  • Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
  • Recommends solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
  • Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
  • Set performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
  • Assures tools, special tools, test measurement and diagnostic equipment, personal protective equipment, repair parts, petroleum, oils and lubricants, and other materiel are available when needed.
  • Performs the non-supervisory work of the function, as needed, such as performing maintenance and/or inspection tasks on equipment, equipment operations, or other non-supervisory functions.
  • Ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures established for the activity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
Maximum Military Grade - CW5 (W-5) with date of rank on or after 05 November 2024
Minimum Military Grade - CW2 (W-2) with date of rank on or before 26 April 2025
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific manuals and work procedures; and prepare production records, work records and reports.
WS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience that demonstrates a thorough technical knowledge of surface maintenance equipment repair, inspection and testing procedures that cover a large variety of vehicles, ordnance and heavy artillery to inspect complete complex systems and detect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic problems; and experience that demonstrates your ability to operate a large variety of test equipment, some of which is specially designed to test complex interrelated mechanical/electrical/ hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Experience that demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for a repair function; ability to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; provide a knowledge of the various lines of work performed by the repair function and associated support organizations; deal effectively with other people; adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations; and experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
