Job Title: Data Engineer I / Data Visualization Specialist
Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical, creative, and user-focused Data Engineer I (Data Visualization Specialist) to join our growing data team. In this role, you will help transform the way we build and deliver applications by analyzing complex data sets, building intuitive dashboards, and partnering with business lines to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
This is a dynamic, agile role combining robust data pipelining with advanced data visualization design. You will translate business requirements into technical solutions, explore and cleanse multi-source data, build monitoring tools, and champion information design best practices across the organization. If you excel at turning complex data into compelling visual stories and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Design & Data Visualization
• Visualization Development: Design, develop, and validate emerging and ongoing metrics, reports, and interactive dashboards primarily using Tableau (alongside PowerBI or other BI tools as needed).
• Information Storytelling: Leverage deep knowledge of information design principles and data visualization methods to effectively communicate trends and insights.
• Rapid Tool Adoption: Quickly evaluate and adopt emerging BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Einstein Analytics, QuickSight) to project future business needs.
Data Engineering & Pipeline Support
• Data Extraction: Explore, extract, cleanse, and combine data from multiple disparate sources and enterprise systems.
• Data Quality & Monitoring: Continually improve data quality, build automated data monitoring tools, and establish proactive alerts.
• Pipeline Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally to design and execute end-to-end data solutions and investigate new technologies to improve data pipelines.
UI Integration & Stakeholder Enablement
• Web UI Integration: Participate in web development activities, leveraging JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to embed and enhance data visualization interfaces.
• Requirements Gathering: Partner directly with business stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical requirements.
• Training & Demos: Lead dashboard demo sessions, develop end-user training materials, and produce comprehensive technical documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 3+ years of professional work experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data engineering.
• Technical Mastery:
oExtensive hands-on experience building compelling visualizations and interactive dashboards using Tableau, PowerBI, QuickSight, or similar reporting platforms.
oProven experience working on user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
oSolid foundation in data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and multi-source combination.
oRobust portfolio outlining previous data visualization and dashboard development projects.
• Core Competencies: Strong information design acumen; extensive problem-solving experience; proactive self-starter attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment.
