Position Description

UNOS is seeking an Associate Biostatistician / Associate Data Scientist to support data-driven research, analytics, and initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.

This role is designed for early-career professionals seeking to build foundational skills in biostatistics and data science within a healthcare research setting. In this role, you will work with complex datasets under guidance to support research and analytical efforts. You will apply established statistical and analytical methods to solve well-defined problems while developing expertise in transplantation, healthcare data, and organizational processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute analysis plans using statistical and data science methods (e.g., regression, survival analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning)
  • Support data cleaning, management, and transformation
  • Execute analyses that generate insights and support decision-making
  • Prepare summaries, visualizations, and reports for a range of audiences
  • Contribute to research projects, analytical initiatives, and data-driven product development efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research, data engineering, software development, and DevOps to support model development and deployment
  • Build and maintain reproducible analytical workflows and contribute to shared codebases following established development standards
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of statistical and machine learning models under the guidance of more experienced team members
  • Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, or similar) to enhance coding, analysis, and documentation workflows
  • Participate in quality checks to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and reliability of results
  • Manage assignments and meet deadlines with guidance
  • Support development of manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in statistical analysis or data science (including graduate research experience).
  • Experience working with real-world datasets and analytical tools
