SUMMARY/SCOPE: We are looking for a part-timefaculty member to teach three classes in dance for the Theatre Program:Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach dance coursesfor the Theatre Program. Courses will include a focus on dance basics with an emphasison musical theatre style. Each classmeets once a week for 90 minutes, from 3:00-4:30 on Tuesday (Beginning)Wednesday (Intermediate), and Thursday (Advanced). This schedule repeats in the Spring.
Demonstrate effective teachingstrategies by planning and implementing a variety of teaching methods as wellas assessment.
Maintain accurate records anddocuments, submit timely reports, and be responsive to students.
Records/documents include but are not limited to syllabi and grades..
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
At least a Master's degree inDance or related area is preferred, with at least 18 graduate hours orsignificant, relevant professional experience required. Teaching experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None are required for this position at this time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job requires active, physical movement in order to teach and modelvarious forms of dance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Thisposition is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week)that involves teaching in-person classes on campus at Hardin-Simmons Universityin Abilene, Texas.
Must be a resident of the state of Texas.
