Job description

Job Summary: 
The New Build Paint Manager will oversee all aspects of the painting process for our custom sportfish yacht construction projects. This role involves leading a team of skilled painters, ensuring the highest quality finishes, and maintaining adherence to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in marine coatings and a strong background in team leadership within a shipyard or yacht manufacturing environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise the paint team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.​
  • Oversee surface preparation, fairing, priming, and application of topcoats to ensure premium finishes on new build sportfish yachts exterior and interior furnishings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines related to marine painting processes.​
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to coordinate painting schedules and integrate painting processes into the overall production timeline.​
  • Maintain inventory of painting materials and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.​
  • Implement quality control measures to inspect finished surfaces for defects and ensure consistency with company standards.​
  • Stay updated on the latest painting techniques, materials, and industry trends to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
 
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in marine painting are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine painting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Skills: 
    • Proficient in various painting techniques and materials used in yacht construction, including knowledge of marine coatings and application methods.​
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.​
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively coordinate with multiple departments.​
 
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed in a marine and industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
  • May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
