Ray Quinney & Nebeker P.C. of Salt Lake City, UT, one of the largest and most reputable full-service law firms in Utah, is looking to hire a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant for its Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. This Legal Assistant position enhances the effectiveness of the litigation attorneys in the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group by performing a variety of tasks and duties such as drafting and formatting letters, briefs, pleadings and other legal documents; managing calendars for meetings; making arrangements for depositions; assisting with discovery including document management systems and service of discovery materials; maintaining client files, and being familiar with court process and procedures while filing court documents through State and Federal electronic filing systems, including the ECF case filing system.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create first drafts of simple legal documents such as deposition notices and certificates of service
  • Process State and Federal electronic court filings
  • Maintain hard copy  and/or electronic case files of all matters assigned to attorneys
  • Complete administrative duties such as making copies, answering and directing phone calls
  • Coordinate and manage calendars for meetings, depositions, court hearings and travel arrangements
  • Draft and/or format legal briefs, pleadings and correspondence
  • Proof and finalize documents and pleadings
  • Electronically manage and maintain files containing legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence
  • Track CLE compliance and preparing and providing CLE reports to various state bars
  • Communicate with clients, courts and outside counsel
  • Assist with and maintain time, billing records and invoicing issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Proficient in creating TOC and TOA in Word
  • Proficient in State and Federal electronic court filings
  • Knowledge of ECF filing requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to keep and maintain confidential information regarding clients and firm issues
  • An ability to quickly grasp firm specific software
  • Ability to be adaptable to various office situations

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working as a litigation legal assistant
  • 3+ years of experience processing State and Federal electronic court filings
  • Experience in bankruptcy and creditors' rights is a plus
  • Familiarity with state court creditor remedies (trust deed foreclosures, garnishments, etc.) is a plus
  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience
