Job description

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Cook I for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. 

This position will require that the employee work on-site at Wake Island. Transportation from Honolulu, Hawaii to Wake Island will be furnished by government-sponsored aircraft. Meals and housing will be provided by the program while working on the island. Employees will live in a dormitory housing environment and meals will be furnished daily through the cafeteria commissary.

This Temporary position will last a maximum of 90 days 

Key Role: 

In a cafeteria environment, prepare all meals in accordance with preplanned menus within established budgets and in compliance with government and management directives. Prepare and cook the quantity of food required according to the menu and the number of customers. 

  • Assists in preparing and serving appetizing, appealing meals using safe and hygienic methods for employees and as directed for special functions and visitors. 

  • Ensures that the work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times. 

  • Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas and the cafeteria after each meal. 

  • Unload food and supplies from delivery trucks. 

  • Ensure compliance with USDA and all pertaining standards, policies, and regulations. 

  • Maintain accountability of customers and property; adhere to safety practices. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Accountable For:  

  • Food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.  

  • Recipe construction.  

  • Diet principles.  

  • Sanitation standards and procedures to prevent contamination.  

  • Counting inventory.  

  • Maintaining a food handler's card. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Must have and maintain a Certified Food Professional Certification.

  • Two (2) years of previous food-service experience in a commercial or institutional environment. 

  • One (1) year experience as a line cook or prep cook in addition to the 2 years of food-service experience. 

    Experience with safe food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures to prevent contamination. 

    Ability to do recipe construction.

    Speak and understand English. 

    Valid driver's license with suitable driving record. 
 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment fingerprints, background check, and drug screen.

  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquires background investigation.
