Job Description

This role supports a large battery manufacturing facility by safely uncrating, moving, and positioning heavy industrial machinery and cargo. You will work as part of a hands-on team that unloads equipment from trailers and shipping containers, relocates it across a large production floor, and sets it in place using a variety of manual and powered tools and material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and load cargo from trailers and shipping containers using appropriate material handling equipment and tools.
  • Uncrate, crate, unpack, and pack machinery and other cargo safely and efficiently.
  • Move, relocate, and roughly set machinery and cargo to designated locations on the production floor.
  • Use manual and powered hand tools, such as wrenches, drills, and other construction-related tools, to support equipment moving and setup.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including manual toe jacks, manual skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts, as assigned and trained.
  • Perform heavy lifting and continuous physical labor, including frequent bending, crawling, and walking throughout the day.
  • Follow detailed instructions and layout plans to ensure machinery and cargo are placed accurately and safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general cleaning and housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including OSHA standards and site-specific safety rules.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate moves and ensure efficient workflow across the large facility.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor throughout the workday.
  • Ability to walk more than 10 miles per day across a large facility.
  • Ability to bend, crawl, and walk repeatedly and comfortably during the shift.
  • Experience with general labor tasks in construction, industrial, or similar environments.
  • Proficiency in using manual hand tools and basic power tools safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to obtain an OSHA 10 certification if not already held.
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and in active production areas.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating forklifts, gradalls, or other lifts is a plus.
  • Experience in construction-related tasks such as basic carpentry is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with material handling tools such as dollies, pallet jacks, manual skates, and manual toe jacks.
  • Experience performing cleaning and general housekeeping duties in industrial or construction settings.
  • Comfort working in hot, non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate moves and tasks with others.
