Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric PACU RN requiring a CA RN license, BSN, PALS certification, and 2 years of Peds PACU/Pre-Op experience at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital.
Job Details
• Work in the Pediatric PACU unit of a teaching hospital outpatient center,
• Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM,
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed,
• Epic EMR experience preferred,
• Provide pre-op and post-op care for pediatric surgical patients,
• Surgical case types include Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, General, Ophthalmology, Ortho, Plastics, and Urology,
• General anesthesia cases,
Job Requirements
• Active CA RN license in hand required,
• BSN required,
• Current certifications: AHA BLS and PALS,
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric PACU/Pre-Op experience required,
• Trauma Level II experience required,
• Trauma Level I experience preferred,
• Teaching hospital experience required,
• PACU, ICU, or ED experience in work history preferred,
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required at time of consideration,
• Skilled in pre/post-operative patient care, discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and pre-op assessments,
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs,
• Knowledge of RASS, pain assessment and management, and isolation precautions/PPE,
• Familiarity with Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol,
• Experience administering emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents,
Additional Information
• Deliver comprehensive pre-op and post-op care including patient assessments, education, and discharge planning,
• Conduct follow-up phone calls and obtain operative/procedural consents as needed,
• Review patient history and physical documentation prior to procedures,
• Any previous employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with full employment history for rehire eligibility review,
• Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work together on the same unit,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position,
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to offer, with no additional mid-contract requests accepted,
• Time off cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment start date,
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as traveling candidates
