Job description

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, providing temporary support to a variety of the Johns Hopkins locations. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients. The NP educates patients and/or intervenes in acute or chronic illness. The NP practices within their scope as defined by their education, NP specialty certification and the guidelines of the unit, department, and institution. The NP is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins Medical Board; these privileges reviewed during re-credentialing. NICU NP works within designated ICU unit.

Facilitating and coordinates of programs that may include hospital inpatients, outpatients, families, community, and employees of both the hospital and the university by providing evidence-based care based on the nursing process, policies, procedures, and protocols of the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Providing direction to/management of other team members to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care.

Working collaboratively with, and providing leadership for, a multidisciplinary health care team to support program initiatives that support quality, safety, and excellence in care.

Participating in promoting and identifying quality improvement initiatives (clinical, financial, operational) that supports, protects and promotes area of specialty. 

Initiating and participate in the research activities relevant to specialty area.

Implementing initiatives in area of specialty as directed by nursing and medical leadership.

Fostering a clinical environment of service excellence.

-Rotating 12 hour days and nights 7am-730pm, 7pm-730am 

-Start asap-6 month duration

-Daily Case Load:  6-14 patients

-Master's degree and/or DNP from an accredited school of nursing

-Completion of accredited NP program in area of speciality as required by the position

-Clinical skills in area of certification

-Advanced research knowledge, including interpretation, utilization, and conduct.

-General computer knowledge and capability to use computer.

-Ability to incorporate into practice theorectical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members.

-Analytical ability necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of acute and chronic health. 

-Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communication effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.

-Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in order to provide information to patients and health care personnel.

-Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.

-Current Registered nurse and NP licensure in the state of Maryland.

-Current certification in area of specialty as a NP by the State of Maryland the appropriate accrediting national body

-Specialty certification must match population served

-BLS, NRP, STABLE certification required

-Three years of related clinical nursing experience.

-Able to operate patient care equipment, computers, and general office equipment.
