What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary Cold Caller, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary Cold Caller, you need strong verbal communication skills, resilience, and basic sales or customer service experience. Familiarity with CRM software, auto-dialers, and call tracking systems is often required. Persistence, adaptability, and active listening are essential soft skills for handling objections and engaging potential customers. These abilities are important for effectively generating leads and achieving call targets in a competitive sales environment.

How can I effectively handle rejection and maintain motivation as a temporary cold calling script specialist?

Handling rejection is a common challenge in temporary cold calling roles, as many prospects may decline your offer or end the call abruptly. To stay motivated, it's important to view each call as a learning opportunity and not take refusals personally. Successful specialists often set small, achievable goals for each shift—like completing a certain number of calls or securing a few positive responses—which helps maintain focus and momentum. Support from team leads and regular feedback sessions can also provide encouragement and help you refine your approach.

What are temporary cold calling scripts?

Temporary cold calling scripts are pre-written dialogues or templates used by sales or customer service teams for a limited period, often to support a specific campaign, promotion, or seasonal outreach. These scripts help callers introduce themselves, present a product or service, and handle common objections efficiently during outbound calls. Since they are designed for temporary use, they are typically focused on a particular goal and may be updated or retired after the campaign concludes.

Job description

The Role

Temporary Wall Systems Greater Washington is seeking a senior, relationship-driven Business Development Specialist to help accelerate our growth by opening doors that are otherwise difficult or slow to access.

This is a part-time, commission-based role designed for someone who already has deep, trusted relationships with decision-makers in the commercial construction, healthcare, government, and facilities management ecosystem across the Greater Washington region.

Your primary responsibility is straightforward and high-impact:
leverage your relationships to broker warm introductions, secure meetings, and help us get in front of the right people at the right organizations.

This is not a cold-calling role.
This is not an entry-level sales role, or for someone still building their construction network
This is not about activity for activity’s sake.

It is about outcomes: meetings booked, relationships opened, and projects won.

Who You Are

You are someone who:

  • Has spent years building trusted relationships with general contractors, project managers, project executives, facilities leaders, or owners in the Greater Washington construction and facilities ecosystem.Your exact career progression and job titles are less important than your demonstrated relationships with these organizations and individuals.

  • Can comfortably reach out to senior industry contacts and get a meeting because they know you, trust you, and respect your judgment.

  • Understands how construction projects are awarded, how subcontractors are evaluated, and what decision-makers care about when introducing a new trade partner.

  • Is credible explaining why a meeting is worth someone’s time, even if they are not delivering a full technical sales pitch.

  • Is confident representing a company and putting your reputation behind an introduction.

  • Is high-agency, self-directed, and outcome-driven. yYou care far more about results than checking boxes.

  • Is comfortable operating without a base salary and is excited by performance-based upside tied directly to real project wins.

This role is best suited for someone who is senior enough to have real influence, but flexible enough to engage on a part-time basis without fixed hours or quotas.

What You’ll Do
  • Leverage your existing network to secure warm introductions and meetings with:

    • General Contractors

    • Project Managers / Project Executives

    • Facilities Directors

    • Healthcare, Government, and Institutional stakeholders

  • Clearly and confidently communicate Temporary Wall Systems’ value proposition to position meetings as worth the prospect’s time.

  • Coordinate with the ownership team to schedule and prepare for meetings you help initiate.

  • Stay engaged with opportunities you originate to help move relationships forward as appropriate.

  • Collaborate closely with ownership to refine targeting, messaging, and follow-up strategy.

What You Will Not Be Expected to Do
  • Make cold calls or run outbound calling campaigns

  • Follow rigid activity quotas or scripted sales cadences

  • Manage CRM data entry or administrative sales tasks

  • Attend industry events unless you choose to do so

This role exists to leverage relationships, not to grind activity.

Compensation Structure
  • No base salary or hourly pay

  • Per-meeting compensation for successfully booked and completed meetings

  • Uncapped commission on revenue from projects that result from relationships and meetings you originate

  • Clear attribution and transparency around deal sourcing and payouts

This structure is intentionally designed to reward real outcomes and align incentives directly with business growth.

Work Structure & Location
  • Part-time, flexible engagement

  • No set hours or minimum weekly commitment

  • Must be based in the Greater Washington DC Metro Area

  • Ability to support in-person meetings when valuable (preferred, not required)
