Job Responsibilities
The Kent County Parks Department is seeking a seasonal grounds professional to join our team at L.E. Kaufman Golf Course. This position serves as a lead worker, assisting in training and overseeing other Seasonal Parks Worker I and II staff. This position performs skilled turf management work at the golf course, including reporting unfavorable greens conditions to the superintendent; recommending and implementing steps to remediate; preparing and applying chemicals to maintain and improve conditions; operating mowers, other heavy equipment, and the sprinkler system used in course maintenance; and assisting the superintendent with other tasks as assigned.
Please Note:
M-F work will be paid at $21.15 per hour
Saturday-Sunday work will be paid at $22.15 per hour
**Must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent, combined with two years of experience in greens maintenance, horticulture, or other relevant area. (An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered)
  • Must have a Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License, or be willing to obtain one within 6 months of hire date
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license, with a good driving record
  • Must be able to interact positively with golfers and other members of the public
  • Must have strong knowledge of horticulture practices and procedures
