CNC Swiss Machinist / Setup Technician


Location: San Antonio, TX
Relocation Assistance Available for Qualified Candidates


Why This Role Exists


As production demand continues to grow, Tier 1 Personnel is hiring experienced CNC Swiss Machinists to support a large, high-volume precision manufacturing operation in the San Antonio area.

This operation includes more than 100 production machines running across three shifts, producing millions of precision-machined components for customers in aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, electronics, energy, and other critical industries.

We're looking for machinists who are comfortable setting up Swiss equipment, troubleshooting production problems, optimizing tooling, and maintaining the tight tolerances required in high-volume precision manufacturing.



What You'll Be Doing

  • Set up, operate, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC Swiss machines
  • Read, interpret, and make adjustments to CNC programs as needed
  • Assist machine operators with production issues and machine performance
  • Select and optimize tooling to improve tool life, precision, and cycle time
  • Read blueprints, technical drawings, and job layouts
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Troubleshoot quality, tooling, and production issues
  • Collaborate with process and manufacturing engineers on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Help improve cycle times, machine utilization, quality, and overall manufacturing efficiency
  • Maintain consistent production while meeting quality and delivery requirements

Machines & Equipment


Experience with Swiss-type CNC equipment is required. Machines may include:

  • Tornos CNC Swiss machines
  • Tsugami CNC Swiss machines
  • Citizen Swiss machines
  • Swiss-type CNC turning centers
  • Precision bar-fed production equipment
  • MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH BAR LOADING


Inspection equipment includes:

  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Precision measuring instruments and gauges


Materials You'll Machine


Production includes a wide variety of materials, including:

  • Aluminum
  • Carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Titanium
  • High-temperature alloys
  • Engineering plastics


The facility specializes in high-volume precision components manufactured from bar stock, with a strong emphasis on repeatability, quality, and efficiency.


Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience setting up and operating CNC Swiss machines (5-10 Years)
  • Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot CNC programs, tooling, and production issues
  • Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and production processes
  • Ability to work within tight tolerances
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Interest in continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence
