Z TEMP – Clinical Pharmacist
Location: Orange, CA 92868
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Department: Pharmacy Management
Work Arrangement: Full Office
Salary Grade: $58.12 – $92.98/hour (Based on Experience)

Summary

CalOptima Health is seeking a Z TEMP – Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Management team. This role supports the organization’s mission to serve member health with dignity, excellence, and respect. The Clinical Pharmacist will play a critical role in drug utilization review, clinical quality improvement programs, policy development, and provider collaboration to improve health outcomes for members.

Duties & Responsibilities

Pharmacy Management (95%)

  • Participate in CalOptima Health’s mission-driven culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Generate and analyze claims/utilization reports to identify trends and targeted management activities.
  • Develop and update drug utilization criteria and intervention programs.
  • Collaborate with providers and stakeholders to optimize medication management.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives such as HEDIS, Stars, MTM, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Review prior authorizations, appeals, and medication profiles using clinical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare drug monographs and reports for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
  • Serve as plan representative for state fair hearings.
  • Support compliance with CMS, DHCS, DMHC, NCQA, and CalOptima Health policies.
  • Resolve member complaints, grievances, and appeals.

Other (5%)

  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Current knowledge and expertise in clinical pharmacology and disease states.
  • Active, valid, and unrestricted California Registered Pharmacist License.
  • Audit experience with CMS, DHCS, DMHC, or NCQA.
  • Experience in pharmacy practice or residency.
  • Bilingual in one of CalOptima Health’s threshold languages (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese).

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and pharmacy-related software.
  • Leadership skills to motivate teams and participate in committees.
