Job description

What You Will Do

In this role, you will perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on shipping department equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Working closely with Maintenance Coordinators, you will troubleshoot equipment issues, complete repairs, and assist with preventive maintenance activities. You will also support electrical and instrumentation maintenance projects by working alongside electricians to install motors, perform equipment alignments, and complete related maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing routine housekeeping duties, properly caring for tools and equipment, and following all established safety procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to meet all essential functions and physical requirements of the position.
  • Experience performing mechanical repairs in a cement plant or heavy industrial environment.
  • Basic understanding of cement manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools and understanding equipment tolerances.
  • Working knowledge of airslides, blowers, pneumatic loading and unloading systems, bucket elevators, and auger systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing lubrication systems and basic hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of industrial equipment components and part nomenclature.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Skilled in oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and electrical welding on various types of metal and in all positions.
  • Experience installing and maintaining industrial equipment, including electric motors, bucket elevators, and dust collection systems.
  • Ability to perform motor and equipment alignments and conduct basic vibration analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all safety procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, tools, and equipment.
