Per Diem, Days

Assists in managing the Biomedical Engineering department including maintenance, service, upkeep, repair, testing and preventative maintenance of Hospital biomedical equipment, along with required documentation to ensure compliance for State and Joint Commission inspections. Performs additional duties as requested by Plant Operations management team or Senior Management.

Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 536-bed acute care hospital spanning 30 acres, employing over 1,700 employees, 700 physicians and serving southern Palm Beach County for over 40 years. As both a community hospital and state-designated Level I Trauma Center, Delray Medical Center offers several specialized services including advanced cardiac and vascular facilities, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care and weight-loss surgery. Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital at Delray Medical Center is the only state designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in the county by the State of Florida. Delray Medical Center is also home to Fair Oaks Pavilion, a 53-bed adult psychiatry unit. Come join one of our many teams!

EDUCATION

  • Minimum: Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience 

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree 

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) to six (6) years' experience as a Biomedical Engineer.  

  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting. 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION: 

  • None required. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Expertise in Electronic Engineering.  

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  1. Works independently, demonstrating good judgment, knowledge of and ability to perform repairs/maintenance of all Hospital biomedical equipment. 
  2. Assists the Director of Plant Operations in clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of department personnel.
  3. Ensures quality assurance, departmental and safety procedures are adhered to by all Bio-Med employees
  4. Ensures Preventative Maintenance inspections, electrical safety testing and problems encountered are fixed according to correct standards.
  5. Maintains department records, reports and files, as required.
  6. Maintains good public relations with all customers.
  7. Ensure response to emergency calls in a timely manner.
  8. Evaluates new equipment for safe and proper use.
  9. Maintains paging and nurse call communications systems, oversees new equipment installation projects.
  10. Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPPA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position. As part of the requirements for this position, the employee does not access PHI. 
  11. Understands their role in the HICS structure
