Job description

The Server delivers a polished, friendly dining experience from greeting to farewell. You’ll guide guests through menus, take accurate orders, coordinate with kitchen/bar, and manage payments—maintaining pace, presentation, and service standards throughout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Service & Sales

    • Greet tables, present menus, describe specials, and answer ingredient/allergen questions.

    • Recommend pairings and upsell thoughtfully (apps, sides, desserts, beverages).

    • Anticipate needs, time courses, and handle service recovery with professionalism.

  • Order & Delivery Accuracy

    • Enter orders in POS with correct modifiers and seat numbers; verify before delivery.

    • Serve food and beverages to standard; monitor quality and ticket times; coordinate with expo, kitchen, and bar.

  • Check Handling

    • Present checks promptly; process payments, comps/voids, and discounts per policy; manage split checks and gratuity rules; balance cash bank.

  • Standards & Cleanliness

    • Maintain clean, organized sections and side stations; follow opening/closing and side-work checklists.

    • Comply with food safety/sanitation (handwashing, temps, cross-contamination prevention) and responsible alcohol service.

  • Teamwork & Communication

    • Support hosts, runners, bussers, and bartenders; assist with large parties and events.

    • Communicate guest feedback/allergens to BOH; relay out-of-stock items and timing to guests.

  • Compliance

    • Follow company policies (PCI, ID verification, alcohol service, cash handling) and local/state regulations.

  • 1+ year serving experience preferred (high-volume/hotel or upscale casual a plus); will train strong customer-service candidates.

  • POS proficiency; clear, courteous communication and professional demeanor.

  • Certifications: Food Handler and TIPS/ServSafe Alcohol preferred (or within 30 days).

  • Flexible availability (nights/weekends/holidays); reliable and punctual.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand/walk for entire shift; frequent bending, reaching, carrying trays.

  • Lift/push/pull up to 30–40 lbs (trays, racks, supplies).

  • Work in a fast-paced environment and around cleaning/sanitizing chemicals (PPE provided).
