OSU Cascades Outdoor & Adventure Recreation Programs is seeking four (4) hourly, short-term Education Program Assistant 1-Headwaters Outdoor Staff (Short-Term) positions. These are full-time (1.00 FTE) 12-month positions. These positions are expected to last approximately 2 months.
These positions are located in Bend, Oregon.
OSU-Cascades Headwaters programs are offered every year as part of our OSU-Cascades Adventures program. These trips are outdoor trips that take place the week before fall term, with new students, including transfer students, being welcome to register and attend various outdoor recreation activities in the Oregon back country. The Temp Headwaters Outdoor Assistant will be responsible for leading a group of students in outdoor activities and serve as a subject matter expert within the areas being offered for the trip outings. This individual is responsible for engaging with students to teach and guide various outdoor recreation activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of students for the duration of the trip. They will also assist with providing emphasis on activity and basic skills, participate in field sessions, demonstrate and assist students in use of equipment and resources, and provide individual and group activities.
Key Responsibilities:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified, and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
