Make the most of Wisconsin's beautiful summers by working outdoors with the City of West Allis Department of Public Works!

We're hiring Temporary Seasonal Laborers for full-time positions from spring through early fall. Whether you're building your resume, expanding your skills, or just love working outside, we have opportunities for you.

Available Positions

FACILITIES - Starting at $16/hour
Mon-Fri 7am-3pm

  • Set up and take down mobile signs
  • Park attendant and janitorial duties
  • Assist with road and crosswalk painting
  • Barricading, traffic, and parking control
  • Other general public works tasks

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a driving record that meets City standards:
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 18 months
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 36 months
  • No more than 1 chargeable accident in the last 18 months or 2 in the last 36 months
  • No more than 6 demerit points in the last 12 months
  • No OWI or reckless driving convictions in the past 5 years
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including:

  • Operating mowing equipment
  • Continuous lifting up to 20 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and entering/exiting vehicles
  • Working in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, odors, noise, and traffic

**Recent experience with manual labor preferred.
