Job Posting Information
The Aging Department is looking for an unclassified part time Food Handler Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
In this position, you will:
  • Set up serving line, steam table, and cold table, monitor temperatures, restock food items and perform meal serving and work with volunteers who serve or deliver meals
  • Assist cooks by providing needed items and performing pre tasks
  • Handle basic kitchen tasks like slicing, mixing and portioning, under the direction of the full time cook and food service worker
  • Assist with cleaning up as assigned which would include running dishes through dishwasher
  • Collect, organize, and label hot and cold food delivery containers by order size, safely handling large, empty hot boxes, while performing regular bending and reaching, assist in loading hot boxes for meal delivery
  • Effectively communicates with, established trust, and maintains positive effective working relationships with individuals from all levels in the Department and with the public
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Employees in this class must obtain a Food Handler's Permit as issued by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department within 30 days of appointment.
Temporary, on call, and seasonal positions with the City are not eligible for benefits.
