J5 Consulting is a Maryland based company established in 2006 to provide computing and consulting services for government and commercial entities. Our services improve Information System networking performance and compliance and protect electronic assets from loss and compromise. We welcome your application to receive consideration for the following position.
Job Overview:
The Customer applies technical resources to accelerate the timely, reliable, and secure delivery of open source data, information, and insights. The Customer requires developer support developing tailored solutions to tackle unique global collection problems. The work may be performed independently or within a team environment depending on the specific problem statement. Work will include developing Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based resources and the Customer needs skills spanning many compute, storage, and networking services.
  • The position will work closely with the Customer's technical lead to architect, deploy, and maintain multiple, fast-turnaround capabilities used to perform various highly-visible and high-priority collection efforts.
  • The position will coordinate with multiple entities, including mission partners, to ensure capabilities and deliverables meet defined requirements and tradecraft needs.
  • The position will create and maintain collection capabilities and deliverables within the Customer's Amazon Web Services environment utilizing customer approved AWS services.
  • The position will validate collected data to ensure it meets data format requirements.
  • The position will maintain all source code in Customer's GitHub repository.
  • The position will document all source code, including how to execute the code.
  • The position will perform operations and maintenance on the collection capabilities and deliverables to adapt to changes in collection target, technologies, data formats, and naming conventions.

Required skills and demonstrated experience:
  • Demonstrated experience with Python.
  • Demonstrated experience with geo-spatial software and programming packages and data formats.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing AWS resources, including provisioning EC2 instances, writing and deploying Lambda functions, creating and writing to S3, and managing authorization appropriately across resources with IAM policies.
  • Demonstrated experience using GitHub.

Highly desired, though not required, include:
  • Demonstrated experience deploying AWS applications with AWS's Cloud Development Kit (CDK). Ansible and Terraform are NOT a substitute for CDK.
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying containerized applications.
  • Demonstrated experience building, programmatically working with and maintaining search engines such as ElasticSeach, Lucene, or AWS's OpenSearch.
  • Demonstrated experience creating, programmatically working with and maintaining SQL and NO-SQL databases.
  • Demonstrated experience with other non-AWS cloud services such as, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure
  • Certification(s):
    • AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administrator.

US Citizenship:
  • This position requires US Citizenship. Verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements will be confirmed.

Security Clearance:
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Travel:
  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The position will be located within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA).
  • Local travel by privately owned vehicle will be on an as needed basis within the local place of performance.
  • Temporary Duty travel will be outside the Continental United States as requested and approved by the Customer.
