Position Summary

Fusion is seeking an Airspace and Air Security Specialist to provide senior aviation subject matter expertise, operational facilitation, and interagency liaison support for a national-level mission. This role focuses on airspace coordination, aviation security planning, deconfliction, operational awareness, and senior-leader decision support related to aviation equities and sensitive movement requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison to federal aviation and interagency air security partners on matters affecting mission planning and execution.
  • Provide aviation planning and operational support on national airspace matters, including special activities, sensitive movements, and contingency scenarios.
  • Maintain situational awareness of airspace status, flyovers, exercises, events, and other factors that may affect mission equities.
  • Provide real-time support for aviation deconfliction, problem resolution, relocation coordination, and expeditious handling of airspace issues.
  • Support coordination of temporary flight restrictions, security postures, aviation contingency plans, and related operational security requirements.
  • Participate in planning meetings and working groups; brief senior leaders on emerging aviation issues, technologies, and risk considerations.
  • Support aviation-related exercise coordination and provide training on defense aviation equities and operational considerations.
  • May perform additional mission-aligned duties as required to support program objectives.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree preferred in aviation management, aeronautics, homeland security, or a related field; equivalent senior operational experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in airspace management, aviation security planning, aviation operations, or joint/interagency coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to brief senior leaders and provide decision support during time-sensitive operational scenarios.
  • Strong knowledge of national airspace operations, aviation contingency planning, and interagency aviation security coordination.
  • Experience informing policy or operational procedures related to aviation or airspace security.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting executive travel, national special security events, or homeland defense/airspace protection activities.
  • Background coordinating with aviation security, airspace management, or regulatory agencies.


Security Clearance Requirements

  • Candidates must have an active TS to be considered.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SCI access and SAP eligibility/indoctrination as required for assigned duties.


Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed onsite in secure government facilities in the National Capital Region.
  • Work schedules may include coverage between 0500 and 2000 Monday through Friday, with evening, weekend, and holiday support as mission requirements dictate.
  • Short notice travel within and outside the continental United States may be required based on operational needs.
  • Employees must comply with installation access, badging, operational security, and classified material handling requirements at all times.
  • Work may involve dynamic operational requirements and rapid-response coordination tied to sensitive travel or national-level events.
  • This position supports a high-visibility federal mission and is expected to remain fully compliant with customer security, access, and performance requirements.
  • Applicants should be prepared to provide evidence of active clearance status and relevant experience supporting government or defense organizations.
