Job description

Total Aviation Staffing is hiring a Fuel Cell Mechanic for our client, a leading aviation and aerospace maintenance organization supporting defense aircraft programs.
This role is ideal for an experienced aircraft fuel cell technician with hands-on experience performing fuel cell maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, leak checks, and sealing work on military aircraft. You will support critical maintenance operations on F-16 aircraft, helping ensure fuel systems, wings, components, and related assemblies are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
If you have recent fuel cell experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced aerospace maintenance environment, this is a strong opportunity to build your career while supporting mission-critical defense aviation programs.
What You’ll Do
As a Fuel Cell Mechanic, you will perform fuel cell maintenance, inspection, removal, installation, and troubleshooting work on F-16 aircraft.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Remove, install, inspect, and support maintenance of F-16 aircraft wings and fuel cells.
  • Assemble and install aircraft fuel system components, including fuel lines, fittings, hardware, and related assemblies.
  • Perform leak test support and diagnose results to identify fuel system, sealing, structural, drawing, or specification-related issues.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to resolve fuel cell, sealing, or assembly concerns.
  • Support aircraft fuel system maintenance in accordance with technical data, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Handle hazardous materials in accordance with government regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Perform repetitive maintenance tasks, overhead work, and detailed hands-on fuel cell repair activities.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, cleanliness, and workmanship.
  • Work closely with maintenance, inspection, and quality teams to support aircraft readiness and compliance.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on aircraft maintenance professional with strong fuel cell experience and the ability to perform detailed work safely and accurately. You should be comfortable working around aircraft fuel systems, confined spaces, hazardous materials, technical procedures, and strict quality standards.
This role is a strong fit for someone who understands that fuel cell work is not the place for shortcuts. Leaks do not care about good intentions — the work has to be right.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4+ years of recent hands-on aircraft fuel cell experience.
  • Experience performing fuel cell removal, installation, inspection, leak checks, or related aircraft fuel system maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, procedure manuals, technical instructions, and work documentation.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials in accordance with government regulations and safety requirements.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and crawl.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and overhead work.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced aviation maintenance or aerospace production environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on F-16 aircraft.
  • Aircraft bladder installation experience.
  • Military aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience with aircraft fuel lines, fittings, sealing, leak testing, and fuel system troubleshooting.
  • Aerospace, defense, depot-level maintenance, modification, or MRO experience.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural assemblies, wings, fuel tanks, and related components.

Why This Role Stands Out
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced aircraft fuel cell mechanic to work on one of the most recognized military aircraft platforms in the world.
This opportunity offers:
  • Competitive pay of $32.00 – $38.00 per hour
  • Hands-on fuel cell maintenance work on F-16 aircraft
  • Opportunity to support defense aviation and mission-critical aircraft readiness
  • Work in a technical aerospace maintenance environment
  • Potential for long-term career growth in aviation, aerospace, and defense maintenance
