Position Title
Adult Education Trainer - Math/Science
Job Summary
The major responsibility of the ABE/ASE Trainer - Math is to provide educational opportunities for students seeking to either improve basic academic skills and/or prepare for the math High School Equivalency tests.
Environment:
Promote and support teamwork and cooperation with other division staff, instructors, and external agencies in order to promote a positive learning experience for our students. Provide timely information and referrals as needed; meet deadlines for reporting purposes. Provide a classroom environment conductive to learning, sensitive to diverse backgrounds and responsive to the needs of the individual and the class in general.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required Qualifications
โ€ข BA or BS degree in Education or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Three years of experience in teaching ABE/ASE
โ€ข MA in Adult Education or related field
โ€ข Training or coursework in teaching math
โ€ข Experience with disadvantaged individuals
โ€ข Demonstration of proficiency in oral and written English
โ€ข Technology/Digital Literacy proficiency
โ€ข Teacher certification/training or coursework in teaching methodology
โ€ข Completion of at least three instructional workshops in subject area being taught or other relevant topics to the instructional assignment
โ€ข Demonstration of competency in subject area development
