• Code Application: Gain hands-on experience applying US building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC, with a focus on wind and seismic lateral analysis.
• Judgment Development: Develop engineering judgment in the evaluation and adaptation of engineering techniques and procedures under the guidance of senior staff.
Project Ownership & Scope
• Task Management: Take full ownership of your assigned structural scope, ensuring all deliverables are accurate, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule.
• Initiative: Proactively determine requirements for tasks with evolving conditions and begin developing the ability to forecast the level of effort for assigned work.
• Communication: Clearly define your work scope and identify potential scope changes, escalating them to the Structural Lead promptly.
Quality Control & Collaboration
• Rigorous QC: Maintain a high level of attention to detail by self-checking calculations and performing verification checks on the work of peers.
• Multidisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with Structural Designers to ensure structural requirements are accurately communicated in design documents and 3D models.
• Professional Growth: Actively seek guidance from senior engineers to solve complex problems and broaden your knowledge of how structural design impacts other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Engineering emphasis). A Master's degree (MS) is preferred.
• Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
• Experience:
oMinimum of 2 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
oFoundational knowledge of US building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC).
• Technical Skills: Preferred experience with structural analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
• Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team-centric, matrixed environment.
• Logistics: Ability to provide reliable home internet service to meet project performance requirements.
