Job description

Our prime partner in the Cedar Rapids, IA area is looking for a responsible Templater!

The ideal candidate would have previous work experience either templating (measuring) or installing natural stone. Other relevant work experience would be a carpenter, contractor, framer, cabinet installer, or other tradesman.

SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the Project Manager (who is in charge of all Templaters and Installers). He/she will be responsible for all necessary training, plus the quality of your work, as well as all Management functions of your employment (calling in sick, requesting time off, working out any issues of your employment, etc.). You will receive your day-to-day schedule from our Project Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Arriving at scheduled appointments at customer locations within an agreed-upon window of time (example: first job arrival between 8 โ€“ 10am, 2nd job between 11:00 โ€“ 2:00 etc.). Windows depend on the scope of work scheduled throughout the day.
  • Once arrived at customer location, Templater is expected to measure for (or โ€œtemplateโ€) exact dimensions for interior stone applications, in conjunction with the job specifications written on a completed sales order by the salesperson. Examples of applications include kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity tops, fireplace surrounds, Jacuzzi tub decks, shower seats, thresholds, etc.
  • Templates are made from the basis of drawings submitted by the customer as well as from instruction of the contractor, builder or homeowner in order to assemble all specifications of the stone job.
  • Work orders (or production specification orders) are then completed by the Templater, noting all required measurements, polished edges, cutouts (sinks, cook tops, faucet holes), plus radiuses in the tops and any other necessary specifications desired by the customer for the job.
  • Any unconfirmed information about the job (such as missing faucet specs, missing cooktop specs, etc) is the responsibility of the Templater along with the salesperson to find out any missing information in order to complete the work order and template.
  • During the templating appointment, it is often necessary to provide critical information to the customer concerning the templating and installation processes. Professionalism is absolutely critical!
  • Templater is expected to communicate any relevant information about the job to the salesperson, Operations staff or Production staff on a timely basis.
  • All work orders and their completed templates are expected to be handed into the office no later than 24 hours from the time of templating.

COMPANY VEHICLE

A company vehicle will be available for work transportation to complete your job responsibilities. All gas expenses and maintenance are paid for by the company, but it is your responsibility to be diligent about vehicle maintenance and up-keep. For vacation periods, the vehicle may be needed at the company for company business. Any traffic violations, speeding tickets, etc. must be turned in as soon as possible and are at the expense of the employee unless otherwise discussed with your supervisor.
