What is a temp web developer?

Temp web developers are technology professionals hired on a temporary basis to create, update, or maintain websites and web applications. They may work as contractors, freelancers, or through staffing agencies, and are typically brought on to help with specific projects, peak workloads, or to cover staff absences. Temp web developers possess the same technical skills as permanent web developers, such as coding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies, but their assignments are usually limited in duration. They offer flexibility to employers who need web development expertise without committing to a full-time hire.

What types of projects does a temp web developer work on, and how does the temporary nature of the role affect daily responsibilities?

As a Temp Web Developer, you'll often be brought in to support specific projects such as website launches, redesigns, or troubleshooting tasks that require additional short-term expertise. The temporary nature of the position means your assignments are typically well-defined and deadline-driven, so you’ll need to quickly adapt to existing workflows and collaborate with permanent team members. You may be responsible for coding, debugging, updating content, or integrating new features, and clear communication is essential to ensure a smooth handover when your contract ends. This dynamic can provide exposure to a range of technologies and business processes in a relatively short time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp web developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Web Developer, you need proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a solid understanding of responsive design, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, content management systems (CMS), and frameworks such as React or Angular is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and effective communication help you quickly integrate into new teams and manage shifting project priorities. These skills ensure you can deliver high-quality, maintainable web solutions efficiently in a dynamic, short-term work environment.

Job description

Job Title: Senior Cloud Solutions Architect & Engineering Lead
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect & Engineering Lead to spearhead the architecture and delivery of our next-generation connected systems. In this role, you will be the technical lead for a mission-critical product stream, managing the end-to-end development of cloud-native applications that power our global operations.
This position is designed for an engineer who wants to own the design of a system while simultaneously building the "team culture" needed to deliver it. You will not only code the most complex components of our architecture but also lead a team of technical analysts, ensuring that our development standards remain high, our code is maintainable, and our delivery is consistent. If you are a pragmatic architect who thrives on mentoring others and solving "hard" distributed systems problems, this is a prime opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Engineering
• Technical Strategy: Lead the architecture, design, and development of high-scale cloud applications. You will be responsible for the "big picture" of how our services interact.
• Hands-On Execution: Drive the development of robust, secure, and performant code. You are expected to be hands-on with our primary technology stack, ensuring that our APIs, data interfaces, and business logic are built for long-term scalability.
• Modernization: Continuously evaluate emerging web and cloud architectural trends to ensure our platform remains secure, efficient, and aligned with industry-standard data protection best practices.
Leadership & Mentorship
• Engineering Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of technical analysts. You will be responsible for their output, code reviews, and technical growth, while fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders across the organization. Translate complex technical trade-offs into actionable business insights.
• Process Excellence: Promote a "documentation-first" development culture. Ensure all code is maintainable, well-documented, and adheres to our enterprise security policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive IT experience, with at least three (3) years focused on cloud-native application development or connected/distributed product systems.
• Technical Mastery:
oCloud Architecture: Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.
oLanguage Fluency: Proficiency in C#/.NET, JavaScript/Node.js, or Python.
oAPI/Data: Expert knowledge of RESTful API design and high-performance database management (MSSQL or equivalent RDBMS).
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead technical teams and a demonstrated aptitude for people management and resource prioritization.
Preferred Attributes
• A "Security-by-Design" mindset; proven success implementing data security best practices in a public cloud environment.
• Strong "Self-Starter" mentality-you can adapt to shifting priorities in a high-velocity environment without needing constant oversight.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills; you can influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected Veterans
