Position Summary
Hours Per Week: Up to 19.5 hours per week
Department: Monarch Student Resources and Office of the College and Community Connection
Rate of Pay: $15.95 an hour
Monarch Student Resources and Office of the College and Community Connection (C3) seeks motivated, student-centered, and community-minded Pima Community College (PCC) students to serve as Student Ambassadors. Student Ambassadors are leaders, advocates, and representatives of the college who help create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, with a focus on supporting immigrant, refugee, asylee, DACA, undocumented, first-generation, and other historically marginalized or underrepresented communities.
Student Ambassadors serve as peer leaders who help prospective, new, and current students navigate college systems, connect with campus resources, participate in student life, and build a sense of belonging at PCC. Through outreach, presentations, resource navigation, and student engagement activities, Student Ambassadors play an important role in helping students successfully begin and continue their educational journey.
No prior experience is required. Students with a passion for helping others, learning new skills, and making a positive impact on campus are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.
The work schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.
About Temporary Employment:
This position has 3 vacant positions and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually.
Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability.
We are seeking dedicated part-time temporary employees to join our qualified applicant pool. Selected candidates will be considered for placement as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise.
Part-time temporary roles offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a diverse population of students in achieving their educational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Student Outreach and Engagement
  • Serve as a positive representative and student leader for Pima Community College
  • Welcome and assist prospective, new, and current students
  • Participate in recruitment, outreach, orientation, resource fairs, campus events, and community engagement activities
  • Conduct presentations and outreach activities to increase awareness of college resources, programs, services, and opportunities
  • Encourage student participation in campus programs, leadership opportunities, and events

Enrollment and Student Navigation Support
  • Assist prospective and new students with the college application process and understanding their next steps
  • Help students schedule appointments and connect with appropriate college offices and personnel
  • Assist students in navigating college systems and processes, including:
  • Registration and Enrollment Systems
  • MyPima
  • D2L (Desire2Learn)
  • DUO Multi-Factor Authentication o Student Email
  • Provide general information regarding college procedures, deadlines, and available services

Resource Connection and Referrals
  • Connect students with campus and community resources that support academic success, personal growth, and career development
  • Refer students to appropriate college resources, including:

Presentations, Workshops, and Community Education
  • Assist with the development, coordination, promotion, and delivery of workshops, presentations, trainings, and informational sessions
  • Help increase awareness and understanding of issues impacting immigrant, refugee, DACA, undocumented, first-generation, and other historically marginalized or underrepresented communities
  • Distribute informational materials and resources to students, faculty, staff, and community member

Leadership and Student Advocacy
  • Serve as a student voice by sharing student feedback, concerns, and perspectives with appropriate college personnel
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, belonging, respect, and student success
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and community partners to support student engagement initiatives
  • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and positive customer service
  • Work from the assigned Campus Vice President's Office and support campus initiatives, student engagement efforts, special projects, and operational activities that enhance the student experience
  • Assist with outreach, events, communication, and student support activities
  • Perform other related duties and special assignments that provide opportunities for professional growth, leadership development, workplace skill-building, and institutional engagement, other activities which can be assigned by Campus Vice President and/or Administrative Coordinator

Job Requirements/Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and
  • Current Pima Community College student and
  • Must be enrolled at least as a part-time student

Student Ambassadors are eligible to remain in the program throughout their enrollment at Pima Community College, contingent upon continued enrollment, satisfactory performance, and continued interest in serving in the role. This progressive employment model is designed to support ongoing leadership development, workforce readiness, and professional growth.
Preferred:
  • Bilingual: Spanish
  • Experience participating in student leadership programs, student organizations, mentoring, peer support, community service, or volunteer activities
  • Experience facilitating presentations, workshops, or group discussions
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural, immigrant, refugee, first-generation, or underserved communities
  • Knowledge of college resources and student support services
  • Interested in leadership development, student engagement, education, public service, or community outreach

Additional Information:
Travel throughout the college campuses to support events, trainings, workshops, and outreach activities. Travel assistance may be available upon request. Applicants should not be discouraged from applying due to travel considerations. Eligible travel may qualify for mileage reimbursement in accordance with college policy.
