ABOUT THE CENTER
The Center for Biological Diversity, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, believes the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature to the existence of a vast diversity of wild animals, plants and people. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, activism and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that humans, other species and all communities need to survive and thrive.
We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Online Membership Associate (Online Community Engagement) plays an integral role in growing the Centers email and text lists, online membership base and donations. This position supports the management of the organizations social media presence as a dynamic digital publication featuring the Centers leadership on conservation issues. This position will plan, package, publish, and optimize timely content across social platforms to help more people discover the Centers work, stay engaged with its mission, and become members and supporters. The primary goal of this position is to deliver content with a strategy that turns all the Centers digital channels into stewardship platforms. This includes comment management, automated DM journeys, tailored subscriber content, and more cutting-edge engagement tools.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for saving wildlife and wild places; a strong understanding of social media platforms and audience behavior; excellent editorial judgment; and the ability to turn complex environmental, legal, scientific, and campaign information into clear, engaging, and shareable digital content. This person will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and will enjoy engaging directly with the public through comments, DMs replies, emails, texts and other means of connecting with Center members and supporters. This role will work closely with the Senior Online Membership Associates and Content Producers to ensure the Centers online messages are timely, compelling, accurate, innovative, and aligned with membership growth goals. This position reports directly to the Senior Online Membership Associate.
