Job description

Position Responsibilities:
To be a successful Trailer/Reefer Technician I you will need:
  • Approach work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and serving as an example of living our Producers Dairy purpose and core values.
  • Conduct activities in a safe manner, following company safety guidelines and requirements and proactively addresses any unsafe conditions observed.
  • Determine nature of needed repairs for company tractors and trailers through accurate troubleshooting.
  • Work with the fleet supervisor to properly prioritize work and complete within appropriate timelines.
  • Adjust valves according to specifications and charge system with proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the system.
  • Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Repair and maintain Mechanical Equipment - Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles.
  • First point of contact for trailer problems and concerns
  • Perform PM services and DOT regulated 90-day inspections on trailers in fleet
  • Repair trailer doors and lift gates
  • Repair trailer brakes and suspension components
  • Weld, repair, and fabricate various components on trailer (trailer frame, floor, and liftgate)
  • Repair trailer lights, electrical wiring, and air valving / plumbing
  • First point of contact for refrigeration problems and concerns
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single & multi-temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on-board computer modules.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of Thermo-King and Carrier refrigeration units and auxiliary power units
  • Perform PM services on all refrigeration equipment
  • Complete repairs on diesel power plant and refrigeration systems
  • Leak repair, soldering, and welding of refrigerant components
  • Evacuate and charge refrigerant systems
  • Make safety a top priority - properly manages time and prepares for jobs to work in a safe manner. Asks for help when needed.
  • Maintain appropriate dress, hygiene, and personal appearance standards so as to represent the department and the Company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Qualifications and Skills)
To be a successful Trailer/Reefer Technician Iyou will need:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Demonstrated organization and accuracy skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects/tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility should priorities and/or deadlines change.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Must be able to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • 2 years of experience on Diesel Truck and Tractor Repair.

Preferred:
  • ASE Certification T8

Hourly Range: $31.51 - $35.01
