Job Summary

The Research Assistant will be responsible for developing Geant4 and Fluka compatible analysis tools for a HASP experiment. The Research Assistant will work together with a team of 30 undergraduate and high school students who have already designed, built, and tested the HASP experiment. The team consists of students and faculty from a variety of majors and departments, but the experiment and this position is mainly housed in the Department of Physics at Drexel University.

This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.   

Essential Functions

  • Write python code for creating graphs and data processing
  • Test python code using both data and simulation information
  • Predict outcomes using simulations and physics concepts
  • Debug and revise python code based on predicted outcomes
  • Mentor undergraduate students in writing, testing, predicting, debugging, and revising code
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Astrophysics 
  • Experience with Geant4, FLUKA, Python
  • Strong skills in simulation development, data analysis, and calibration design.

Additional Information

This is a Full-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
