We are seeking a full-time Project Manager at the Menlo Park VA Medical Center. This position serves as the Owner’s Representative supporting the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades Program. The Construction Manager will provide onsite construction observation, coordination, documentation, and quality assurance support for infrastructure upgrades and renovation work within an active medical campus environment.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform field observations to document construction progress, site conditions, work activities, and potential contract conformance issues.
  • Monitor and document construction progress, upcoming work activities, and potential delays for review by the Project Manager and VA project team.
  • Assist with shutdown planning and coordination with VA facilities personnel and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare daily reports documenting construction progress, site conditions, and significant events.
  • Maintain organized project documentation including inspection reports, correspondence, photographs, deficiency logs, and field observations.
  • Assist with punch list development, deficiency tracking, final inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Assist with field verification and documentation related to potential change orders.
  • Assist with coordinating or witnessing special inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Support project safety efforts through field observations and coordination with the Site Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience performing construction observation, QA support, inspection, construction management, or owner’s representative services on commercial, healthcare, federal, or institutional construction projects.
  • Familiarity with occupied renovation work, shutdown coordination, phased construction, and stakeholder coordination within active facilities.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction practices, materials, means and methods, and institutional building systems.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage systems and telecommunications infrastructure, including structured cabling, fiber optic systems, pathways, and IDF/MDF room construction.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work professionally in active construction environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required VA site access/badging.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Architecture or a related field. Relevant experience or training may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in construction management, inspection, quality control, or related construction support services required.

Physical Requirements:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoist, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing the duties of this position, the associate regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the associate is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Occasional lifting of equipment between 10-25 lbs. required.
