Job description

Summary: The Manager, Product & Category at ZO Skin Health is responsible for the overall management and profitability of a specific product category, or products within a category. This role analyzes industry and consumer trends, develops strategies, and oversees pricing, promotion, and product range management to maximize sales and profitability. By using current and emerging data and insights, the Manager – Product & Category makes informed decisions on product assortment, pricing, and promotions to facilitate achieving sales goals and customer demands effectively. This role contributes to enhanced customer satisfaction, increased sales, and improved profitability, allowing ZO to maintain and grow its competitive edge in the market. Collaborating with multiple teams across the company, the Manager – Product & Category drives portfolio/category growth via keen market acumen, strong relationships with internal and external customers and a commercial mindset.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute product marketing plans for assigned products and portfolio initiatives.
  • Support end-to-end product launch execution, including timelines, messaging, go-to-market activities, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Education, and Digital teams to ensure successful execution of product initiatives.
  • Assist in developing product positioning, messaging, and value propositions based on customer insights, competitive analysis, and market trends.
  • Conduct competitive research and market analysis to support product strategy and identify opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain product marketing materials, sales enablement tools, presentations, product guides, and digital content.
  • Support the creation and execution of product launch communications and commercial support materials.
  • Monitor product performance and gather market feedback to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Assist with pricing, promotional activities, and portfolio management projects by compiling data and preparing recommendations.
  • Coordinate product training materials and support launch readiness for internal commercial teams.
  • Manage multiple product marketing projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve launch execution, communication, and product marketing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a category management role, preferably within a consumer goods organization; experience with skin care, esthetics or personal care companies is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior.
  • Develop and implement category strategies to drive growth.
  • Effectively communicate with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with market trends and competitor activities.
  • Understanding of category management principles and techniques.
  • Negotiate and optimize product positioning for best marketing outcome.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of financial principles and ability to analyze profitability and sales data.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks.


Work Environment: The work environment is indoors in a professional office environment. The floor surfaces are carpeted in office areas and conference rooms with vinyl floor covering typical in hallways, break rooms and computer rooms. Occasionally, they may work in a warehouse environment, as part of a project, and/or in the field with outside sales.


Work Hours: The work schedule is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Initial start time may vary, with work hours typically from 8am-5pm. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The position resides in Orange County but is hybrid with 2 days being remote work.


Physical and Mental Demands: Sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, or negligible amounts of force frequently, to move objects. This job also requires constant sitting. Constant use of the upper extremities is required to reach, handle, and position tools and equipment. The employee must know and follow proper safety protocols and maintain a professional and polished appearance.
