What is a temp pharmacist?

Temp Pharmacists, or temporary pharmacists, are licensed pharmacy professionals who work on a short-term basis to fill staffing gaps in pharmacies. They may be employed through staffing agencies or directly by pharmacies to cover employee absences, seasonal demand, or special projects. Temp pharmacists perform the same duties as full-time pharmacists, including dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, and ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions. This role offers flexibility for pharmacists and helps employers maintain consistent pharmacy operations.

Excellent communication, adaptability, and attention to detail help you integrate quickly into new settings and deliver high-quality patient care. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring patient safety, maintaining efficiency, and upholding standards in varied and fast-paced pharmacy environments.

Job description

Discover whatโ€™s possible in your career as an Emergency Medicine Medical Director at Frederick Health Hospital

We believe in bringing "better" to our local community in Frederick, Marylandโ€”better care, better collaboration, and a deep commitment to the people we serve. We'd love to talk if you're looking for a role that supports your professional growth and connection to a vibrant community.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit team of 24 physicians and 18 APPs at Frederick Health Hospital, working collaboratively with Sound Physicians' hospitalist, observation, pediatric, and critical care teams to support efficient patient throughput and maintain a low LWBS rate of less than 3%.
  • Ranked as the 3rd busiest ED in Maryland, our department cares for approximately 80,000 annual visits (65,000+ adult visits) and has been recognized as a State Top Performer in EMS offload time.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualification:

  • Board-certified in emergency medicine.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • Enjoy a flexible schedule that supports work-life balance and offers a variety of shift options.
  • 60 hours of clinical work to allow for completion of administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a close-knit team of 24 physicians and 18 APPs at Frederick Health Hospital.
  • For those who like to teach, we work with PA-C studentsโ€ฏfrom Shenandoah, Frostburg, and other local programs.
  • We prioritize the longevity of our clinicians and provide comprehensive ancillary services in the ED, including peer recovery, ED pharmacists, crisis intervention, social work, Goals of Care hospice, and case management.
  • Deliver care in a Magnet-designated hospital with fully staffed nursing, including 3:1 RN ratios in high-acuity areas, and access to robust clinical resources such as point-of-care ultrasound, an ED pharmacist, and dedicated social work/case management support.
  • Practice in a high-acuity environment with a 30% admission/transfer rate at a designated STEMI Center and Primary Stroke Center, featuring ED MRI capabilities for stroke and spinal cord emergencies.

Living and Working in Frederick:

  • Frederick isnโ€™t just where we workโ€”itโ€™s where we live and enjoy the perfect blend of history, culture, and modern living. With its charming downtown, beautiful parks, and vibrant arts scene, Frederick is the fastest-growing county in Maryland and offers a unique lifestyle with a strong sense of community. From local festivals and farmers' markets to scenic walking trails and historic sites, Frederick is a place where you can truly feel at home.
  • Engage in our monthly wellness events, where staff and families come together as part of our mental health initiative. Enjoy hikes, meals, sporting events, happy hours, and holiday parties.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • W2 rates with productivity incentive equivalent to $225-$295/hour days; $240+/hour nights.
  • Competitive Stipend.
