Job description

(Baton Rouge, LA): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Floor Lead to support production operations by overseeing packing line quality, coordinating materials and supplies, maintaining accurate production and quality records, promoting safe plant operations, and helping direct and train production personnel. This position is responsible for supporting packing line efficiency, product quality, sanitation, safety, and effective communication between shifts.


Essential Duties:

• Maintain accurate records related to packing lines, production activity, and product quality.

• Monitor the quality of finished products during the shift, including correct box counts, package appearance, code-date readability, brew-time testing, leak testing, and product weights.

• Perform random and routine quality checks on production lines and certify pallets for shipment.

• Review customer specification sheets and verify specifications at the beginning of orders and shifts. • Ensure finished goods and raw materials meet applicable quality requirements.

• Maintain accurate and timely quality records and quality measuring equipment.

• Maintain quality assurance procedures and ensure established procedures are followed.

• Record required quality information, downtime, lunches, and idle time in the manufacturing system.

• Communicate quality concerns, operational issues, staffing changes, and production schedule changes between shifts.

• Coordinate materials and supplies between production lines.

• Direct and train temporary employees, packers, and other production personnel as needed.

• Follow and reinforce established safety procedures, including emergency-stop, lockout, and proper lifting procedures.

• Train employees on applicable safety procedures.

• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and ensure packaging lines are clean and organized at the end of each shift.

• Identify and suggest opportunities to improve production processes.

• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.


Requirements/Skills:

• Ability to implement and follow quality assurance, sanitation, and safety procedures.

• Ability to direct and train temporary employees, packers, and other production personnel. 

• Ability to communicate effectively with front-line operators and personnel across shifts.

• Ability to review and follow customer specifications and established quality procedures.

• Ability to maintain accurate and timely production and quality records.

• Ability to monitor packing line efficiency, productivity, quality, and safe plant operations.

• Ability to recognize operational issues and recommend process improvements.

• Strong attention to product quality, cleanliness, safety, and production requirements.


Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements while working in a production environment.
• Ability to lift and carry materials, supplies, and finished products as required to support production operations.
• Ability to safely work around moving machinery and production equipment.
• Ability to handle materials, operate equipment, and perform quality inspections.
• Ability to visually inspect products, packaging, labels, and date codes for quality and accuracy.
• Ability to move throughout the production facility to monitor multiple packaging lines and coordinate materials and supplies.
• Ability to perform cleaning and sanitation activities associated with maintaining production and packaging areas.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with established safety procedures.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position in a manufacturing/production environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
