Position Title: Temporary Facilities Coordinator

Employment Classification: Temporary Full-Time; Hourly/Non-exempt

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm 

Assignment Length: Approx. September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Reports to: Facilities Manager 

Department: Facilities


Position Summary: The Temporary Facilities Coordinator will split their time working at the Samueli Academy and other Orangewood Foundation facilities, completing various maintenance-related tasks overseen by the Facilities Manager.

Requirements

Major Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Manage the completion of the day-to-day work orders and projects at multiple sites. 
  • Complete the campus preventative maintenance plan as needed based on best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate necessary repairs effectively to the Facilities Manager and team while keeping updated notes in the ticketing software.
  • Responsible for effective and proactive communication and building relationships with the team and programs.
  • Coordinate with facilities team to ensure all facilities are well maintained and up to standards.
  • Monitor supplies and spare parts inventory and coordinate orders with the Facilities Manager.
  • Help ensure maximum productivity and efficiency associated with maintenance. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements: 

  • Skilled trade school preferred. 
  • Experience in various building repairs such as drywall, painting, electrical, plumbing, and/or furniture repair is required.
  • HVAC experience valued.
  • Three years plus of maintenance technician experience is preferred. 
  • OSHA 10-hour safety card preferred.
  • Experience monitoring and managing building management software and systems.
  • Ability to understand work orders, installation manuals, other written materials, etc.
  • Experience with and ability to work safely with power tools when needed
  • Experience working with outside vendors that are contracted for maintenance and repairs.
  • Customer service experience in a professional environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortability working around adolescents in a school setting and in residential housing locations.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Possess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
  • Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements: 

  • This role requires working across a school campus, residential sites, offices, and outdoor areas.
  • Sufficient strength, stamina, physical ability and mobility to maintain a rigorous work schedule requiring continuous physical exertion by performing manual labor including lift, carry, push and/or pull or otherwise move moderately heavy to heavy loads up to 75 pounds.
  • Work occasionally at heights on lifts, scaffolding or ladders.
  • Stand and walk long distances on surfaces including concrete, asphalt, gravel and uneven surfaces. Bend at the waist, kneel, stoop, squat, reach and crouch.
  • Schedule may be made based on needs of the Foundation.
