Job description

The Department of Statistics in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. Both positions will be full-time, non-tenure accruing, 9-month appointments.
Research duties for one position will include developing flexible Bayesian approaches to investigate how circadian rhythm disruption (CRD) affects cell composition of a tissue by using spatial clustering algorithms to the spatial transcriptomic data. Research duties for the second position will include developing new spatial models, computational methods, and theories with application to spatial multiomics data.
In addition to conducting outstanding research, the successful candidates will be able to teach a variety of courses, including undergraduate service courses, upper-level undergraduate courses, and masters-level courses. They will be expected to teach one course each semester to include developing written lecture notes, weekly lectures, weekly office hours, homework assignments, exams and quizzes. Instructors will have the opportunity to teach online sections of undergraduate or masters-level courses.
The Department of Statistics has a tradition of outstanding methodological, theoretical, computational, and interdisciplinary research. Current faculty members actively collaborate with colleagues within the department, throughout the university, and at many outside institutions.
Qualifications
A PhD/DSc degree in Statistics or a related field is required.
