Description Title: Instructor Position Number: 0084043T Location: Manoa Campus Date Posted: April 07, 2025 Closing Date: Continuous until filled, first review of application begins 5/01/2025 Salary Info: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Monthly Type: 9-Month Tenure Track: Non-Tenure Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Funding: General Funds Other Conditions: The School of Life Sciences (SoLS), College of Natural Sciences, University of Hawai'i at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawai'i) invites applicants for the position of Instructor in the Marine Biology undergraduate program. With over 600 students, Marine Biology is one of the largest majors at UHM. This is a temporary, non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment, to begin January2, 2026, subject to position clearance, availability of funds, and program needs.

Duties: Teaching 12-credits (or equivalent) per semester, including Biology of the Invertebrates (BIOL 485+485L), Marine Ecology and Evolution (BIOL 301+301L), Advanced Topics in Marine Biology (BIOL 404) and other undergraduate classes in the Marine Biology program

Participate in SoLS committees and events as appropriate. Perform related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: A Master's degree in Marine Biology, or related discipline, from a college or university of recognized standing, with the major work in the field in which the instructional assignment is made or duties performed Evidence of ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others Desirable qualifications include: Ph.D. in Marine Biology, or related discipline, (or closely related discipline), A proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upper-division marine biology courses at the university level, Experience teaching high enrollment (>60) lecture courses with multiple lab sections, Experience teaching students of varied backgrounds To Apply: Applicants must submit one single PDF file that contains: Cover letter indicating how you satisfy the minimum and desirable qualifications Curriculum vitae, including teaching history, a list of prior scholarly achievements and a list of publications and presentations Names and contact information (including email addresses and phone numbers) of three professional references
