Temp machinists are skilled workers who are hired on a temporary basis to operate, set up, and maintain machines that produce precision metal parts or instruments. They often fill in for permanent employees during busy periods, special projects, or employee absences. Temp machinists must be proficient in reading blueprints, using measuring tools, and following safety procedures. Their assignments can range from a few days to several months, depending on the employer's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp machinist?

To thrive as a Temp Machinist, you need a solid understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, and experience with manual or CNC machine operation, often supported by a technical certificate or apprenticeship. Familiarity with tools like calipers, micrometers, and CNC programming software is typically required.
