Job description

Job Description The Laser Applications Engineer at Machitech installs, configures, and commissions cutting machines while optimizing precision through calibration and testing. The role provides advanced technical support, operates nesting software, delivers training, collaborates with engineering and R&D on new laser applications, documents results, and stays current with evolving laser cutting technologies. Responsibilities Assemble machine components using electrical and mechanical drawings Perform start‐up testing and machine configuration Carry out functional tests, diagnose issues, and repair electrical and mechanical problems Install press brakes primarily in Canada and the United States Provide training to operators on installed equipment Respond to service calls Deliver on‐site field service support Perform any other related duties Conduct on‐site tests on various materials to validate technical specifications Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to develop new laser applications, including adapting existing systems to meet clients' specific needs Deliver training sessions to clients and internal staff Stay up to date with the latest developments in laser and cutting technologies Requirements Degree in engineering or a related technical field Significant experience with laser cutting systems Strong skills in machine adjustment, calibration, programming, and setup to ensure optimal, precise, and reliable cutting performance Rigorous, structured, and scientific approach when conducting tests Hands‐on experience with high‐power fiber lasers (up to 30 kW) Solid understanding of the impact of assist gases on equipment performance and cutting quality Proficiency with nesting software Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‐technical clients Willingness to travel frequently within Canada and the United States Valid driver's license and passport (mandatory) Desired Profile Team player Ability to work in an international environment Customer service skills Strong analytical and problem‐solving abilities Ability to communicate clearly, summarize, and simplify information Commitment to delivering quality work, identifying priorities, and meeting deadlines THIS ROLE IS FOR ME IF I AM...
