Concrete Laborer

Job Description

As a concrete labore, you will be responsible for setting the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, ensuring they are properly constructed and aligned. You will also be tasked with leveling and smoothing concrete using various tools, producing rough concrete surfaces, molding expansion joints, and applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure and waterproof concrete surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Set and align forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth.
• Check and ensure the forms are properly constructed.
• Level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand/power trowel, hand/power screed, and float.
• Produce rough concrete surfaces using a broom.
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• Clean chipped areas with a wire brush and ensure surface smoothness.
• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure and waterproof concrete surfaces.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months experience in residential or commercial concrete.
• Ability to lift 50lbs consistently throughout the day.
• Proficiency with hand tools.
• Experience in flatwork and foundation construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in concrete finishing.
• Proficiency with hand/power trowel.
• Proficiency with hand/power screed and float.

Work Environment

Work primarily outdoors as part of a crew of 5-6 members. Expect to work 45-50 hour weeks.

This is a Contract position based out of Waterloo, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
