| Aspect | Temp Lab | Lab Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically no formal certification required; on-the-job training common | Often requires an associate degree or certification in laboratory technology |
| Work Environment | Temporary assignments in various labs, often in different locations | Permanent or long-term employment in a specific laboratory setting |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used by staffing agencies to fill short-term lab roles | Employed directly by labs or healthcare facilities |
The main difference between a Temp Lab and a Lab Technician is that Temp Lab roles are temporary, often filled through staffing agencies, and may not require formal certifications. Lab Technicians are usually permanent employees with specific qualifications, working consistently in a dedicated lab environment. Both roles support laboratory operations but differ mainly in employment type and credential requirements.
