Job description

Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a long-established and highly respected healthcare provider and Federally Qualified Health Center with locations throughout Indian River County, FL is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team.

Assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols
  • Prepares patients for dental treatments by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping patient.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area, positioning instruments for dentist's access, suctioning and passing instruments.
  • Provides diagnostic information by taking digital radiographic studies, pouring, trimming and polishing study casts
  • Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restoration, cleanings and polishing removable appliances.
  • Provides chair side assistance in both general and specialized dentistry.
  • Operates all dental equipment, i.e. vital signs.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in the patients electronic record in Dentrix and Intergy.
  • Protects patient and employee by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Protects patient and employees by adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Responsible for cleaning of dental operatory instruments.
Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) in dental assisting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification

Expanded Functions Dental Certificate is required. If the applicant is a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) the CDA certification meets the requirements for expanded functions certification.

Certification as a Dental Radiographer is preferred.
