Job description

HIRING RANGE: $28.49 - $31.66/hour

Maintain golf course irrigation system (particularly Homestead GC). Position is responsible for installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of golf course irrigation system. Components of irrigation system include ditch conveyance structures, pump stations, pipe, valves, sprinklers, controllers and all other components related to golf course irrigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Irrigates golf course to provide healthy turfgrass environment and optimum golf course playing conditions as directed by the 2nd Assistant Superintendent - Homestead.
Operates/tests sprinklers via RainBird MI (Mobile Interface) for I-phone and/or Surface tablet.
Conducts sprinkler performance testing throughout the year, may include trouble-shooting problems.
Ability to perform electrical diagnosis and repair of satellite controllers and 2-wire path.
Performs repairs-replacement of irrigation components (sprinkler heads, head components and PVC pipe).
Maintains appropriate lake water levels.
Keeps accurate records of water use, pump use, and other pertinent data.
Maintains and conducts minor maintenance on pump stations.
Maintains their own cart and tools.
Performs related duties as required.
Limited computer programming for daily irrigation under supervisor's guidance.
Reporting Relationships
Supervision Received: Reports to 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (Homestead)
Supervision Exercised: May lead variable staff assigned to irrigation duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate with courtesy and respect to customers, suppliers and co-workers.
Ability to work as a team member as well as independently.
Ability to diagnose irrigation system failures and repair with a minimum of down time. Includes sprinkler disassembly, pipe cutting, gluing and installation and swing-joint operation and assembly.
Must be willing to work overtime, standby, weekends and call back when required.
Knowledge of plant and water relationships.
Understand basic budget principles and operate within it.
Ability to be ready for work 30 minutes before sunrise.
Must be able to interact with others in a positive manner.
Must demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
Criminal background check required.
Technology Skills
Must possess basic computer skills including a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for water accounting purposes.
Education and Experience
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: One or more years' experience in golf course irrigation, installation and repairs.
Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training
Valid Driver's license and good driving record
Confined space certification required within six months of employment
