We're Zumiez, the profitable, 650+ -store action sports retailer. We're growing. Are you?
  • Are you the kind of person who gets bored by managers that don't push you, by jobs that don't stretch you, by cultures that move too slow?
  • Are you a high achiever, with a track record of beating aggressive goals? You know, the type-A type who's always looking to top last year?
  • Do co-workers and bosses tell you "you just don't fit in" to their world of gray cubicles, meetings that drag on, and cultures that reward tenure and sucking up to the boss over performance?
  • Do you believe that customers deserve your best, every day?

Customer Care Representative
Zumiez has high expectations for our Customer Care group. Excellent service is our number one priority at Zumiez and it's time to ramp up for our Holiday Season!
This is where you come in.
We're looking for a kick-ass group of people to provide amazing service via email and telephone for our customers. This is a temporary position that will begin in mid-July and end in September -- but people who wow us always have the opportunity to find a home here. As a part of our team you'll communicate with customers via phone and email to help them find their orders, fix the rare mistake, teach them about our products, and make them smile and laugh with you throughout the process. You'll help us continue to improve by recording information about why customers call us, so we can make sure they don't have to in the future.
Your background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?
You should have...
  • A desire to make people happy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- and a belief that spelling and grammar still count.
  • An ability to learn fast and hit the ground running.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends (weekends may be required). Those with the most flexible schedule are often rewarded with the most hours!
  • Call center, customer service, or retail experience never hurts - experience providing service via email is a real plus!

And everyone you work with should describe you as...
  • Comfortable in a deadline driven environment with rapidly changing priorities and a high volume of projects.
  • Able to learn on the fly, react quickly, and reprioritize efficiently in response to changing needs and situations.
  • Demonstrates initiative, creative problem-solving, organization.
  • Consistently giving off positive vibes
  • Driven to crush deadlines and goals
  • Dedicated to Customer Service and great experiences.
  • Passionate about winning

And you should be motivated by...
  • Learning how to do something well by doing it, not be reading a manual or going to formal training
    • If you need a ton of handholding or a micro-manager boss, this is not the place for you.
  • Working in a lean, results oriented environment
    • If you're looking to kick back and coast, keep on looking
  • Having fun in an environment low on politics, high on transparency, and comfortable with jeans, shorts, hoodies, and dogs in the office

Where you'll work
Our headquarters are in the thriving metropolis of Lynnwood, Washington, just North of Seattle. This is an aggressively casual, skateboards welcome, open environment that's designed to get people talking, debating the merits of an idea, and having fun. Even though our company was founded in 1978, our ~200 person HQ culture still feels very start-up-y. And even though we're the home office, you'll find a strong sales culture -- not an administrative culture -- here. Think Jerry Maguire meets Office Space.
