Job description

SNELLING is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Lead for a local manufacturing facility. In this role, you will take ownership of the facility's logistics function, managing both incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods. The ideal candidate has prior experience receiving and shipping products using both UPS Ground and FedEx Ground systems, a strong comfort level with computers, and excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy across all shipments. This position is physically demanding and requires candidates to be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
This position would be a temp-to-hire opportunity through SNELLING with our client in Tyler, meaning that SNELLING would work with you through the consideration and interview process and SNELLING would be your employer for a probationary period upon an offer being accepted. There is not a fee to use SNELLING to assist you in your job search.
Key Responsibilities
  • Shipping & Packaging: Prepare, package, and secure products for shipment. Ensure specific packaging protocols are followed (such as wrapping or securing items to prevent chipping or damage).
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage both small parcel shipments (UPS Ground, FedEx Ground) and heavy freight shipments (LTL/TL) incoming and outgoing.
  • Documentation: Create Bills of Lading (BOLs), custom packing slips, and specialized shipping documents tailored to specific customer requirements (system training provided).
  • Receiving & Inspection: Unload and receive incoming raw materials and products. Inspect and verify all contents for accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inventory & Counting: Perform precise inventory counts of parts both manually and utilizing counting scales.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Proven prior experience in a shipping and receiving role (preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment).
  • Computer Skills: Strong comfort level using computers and software systems to generate shipping labels and documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in counting parts, inspecting goods, and matching paperwork to physical inventory.
  • Physical Demands: This is a physically demanding position requiring frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving materials throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, and stand for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks such as packing and preparing products for shipment.
