Temp F02 Fire Guards often work in environments that require constant vigilance, such as construction sites or buildings undergoing maintenance. A common challenge is staying alert for long periods, especially during overnight shifts, to ensure fire safety protocols are strictly followed. Additionally, maintaining accurate logs and conducting regular patrols in sometimes harsh weather or low-visibility conditions can be demanding but are crucial for effective fire prevention.

What is a Temp F02 Fire Guard?

A Temp F02 Fire Guard is a person certified by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to perform fire watch duties at temporary construction sites, especially where fire protection systems are impaired or absent. Their primary responsibility is to monitor the premises for potential fire hazards and respond quickly in case of an emergency. They are required when hot work (like welding or cutting) is being performed or when fire alarms or sprinkler systems are out of service. F02 Fire Guards must complete and pass the FDNY's F-02 examination to receive their certification.
