Job description

Director, Benefits & Human Capital Management (HCM) Support – Flexible Work Schedule

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the Director, Benefits & Human Capital Management (HCM) Support position. This role reports to the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the university’s benefits, leave administration, ADA accommodation process, and temporary employment and HCM support functions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of benefits administration, including NSHE‑sponsored and state‑sponsored health, welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs such as RPA, PERS, tax‑sheltered annuity, deferred compensation, medical and supplemental insurance, Section125 programs, and other employee benefit offerings.
  • Lead leave and absence management programs, including FMLA, sick and annual leave, catastrophic leave, leave audits, and ADA workplace accommodation processes.
  • Oversee temporary employment processes and HCM transaction support, including non‑recruited appointments, letters of appointment, temporary hourly employees, student employees, and Workday transaction triage.
  • Establish operational standards, monitor service levels, drive continuous process improvement, and provide guidance on the most complex and sensitive matters within the assigned areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with university leadership, campus stakeholders, NSHE institutions, Business Center South partners, and external vendors to align priorities, improve service delivery, evaluate benefit plan options, support procurement and RFP processes, analyze utilization and market trends, and advance strategic human resources initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including at least five (5) years overseeing benefits, leave administration, HR operations, or related functional areas, and three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, applicants may qualify with an associate’s degree and two (2) additional years of relevant experience, or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in place of the degree.

Salary

Salary range: $130,000 to $140,000 or commensurate with the labor market.
