About this Job The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. As a Social Service Analyst 1-3, you'll interpret and apply complex federal, state, and local regulations while guiding clients through program requirements and available resources.

You'll conduct in-depth client interviews to assess work history, education, abilities, and goals, then serve as a case manager-documenting findings, coordinating services, and developing solutions that support successful participation. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy problem-solving, client engagement, and using policy knowledge to create positive, real-world outcomes. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Determine Eligibility for Economic Stability Programs Determine initial and ongoing eligibility for Economic Services (ES) programs by gathering, analyzing, and documenting client information; interpret and apply complex federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and agency policies while maintaining a reduced caseload compared to lower-level SSAs. Provide Quality Customer Service and Program Guidance Assess customer needs, explain program rules and procedures, make appropriate referrals, and deliver services respectfully, consistently, and without bias, while demonstrating cultural sensitivity. Manage and Document Caseloads and Case Activity Manage assigned caseloads by completing required forms, recording findings, documenting case activity and correspondence, and monitoring case development to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Serve as Lead Analyst and Mentor Train, mentor, and provide technical assistance to new and lower-level SSAs and support staff; interpret program policies, review cases for accuracy, and assist with corrective actions and performance development. Support Supervisory and Operational Functions Assist the supervisor in evaluating program processes, completing reports, reassigning caseloads to balance workload, responding to urgent State Office requests, and performing functional supervisory duties in the supervisor's absence. Ensure Quality Control and Compliance Review statistical samples of cases for completeness and accuracy, monitor quality control findings, assist in developing corrective procedures, and ensure compliance with state and federal rules, regulations, and policies.

Provide Training, Representation, and Community Engagement Conduct policy training for staff, represent the agency in appeals, hearings, presentations, and community forums, serve as a resource to community partners, and participate in formal training and professional development activities. Position-Specific Details: Location: Medical Vendor Administration / Economic Stability / Statewide Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Probationary appointment, Promotional appointment, Job appointment (temporary appointment that may last up to 48 months) Position Number(s): Multiple positions Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Social Services Analyst 1, 2, or 3 determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.

Compensation: The salary range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum allowable pay range and is not the anticipated starting salary. New hires will typically be appointed at the Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below, based on qualifications and experience. Higher salaries may only be considered for applicants with prior State of Louisiana classified service, in accordance with Civil Service pay rules.

This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity. Social Services Analyst 1 - $16.42 hr / $1,313.60 bi-weekly Social Services Analyst 2 - $17.56 hr / $1,404.80 bi-weekly Social Services Analyst 3 - $21.27 hr / $1,701.60 bi-weekly How To Apply No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
